2026-2027 Committee Chairs
Auction/Golf Outing: Looking for 2026-27 Chairs & Committee Volunteers
The Auction has historically been a bi-annual fundraising event. The next auction would be set for spring of 2026. In 2025 the PTO put on a Golf Outing as an alternative fundraiser which was a big hit! The board is currently considering whether to do another golf outing or bring back the auction as planned for 2026. Tasks regardless of the format of the event include: soliciting donations, collecting and organizing donation items, assisting with the event planning and collaborating with the board. This chair works closely with the Fundraising Coordinator officer and board Treasurer but with the size and breadth of the event, it's an 'all hands-on deck' type of planning committee with full board support.
Carnival: Looking for 2026-27 Chairs & Committee Volunteers
This chair position is tasked with organizing and running the spring carnival. The work falls mostly into the second half of the school year. Carnival material is available from the past carnival chairs but there is flexibility in how this event is staffed such as fully outsourced or supplemented with volunteers. Like the auction, this chair works closely with the Fundraising Coordinator officer and board Treasurer but with the size and breadth of the event, it's an 'all hands-on deck' type of planning committee with full board support.
Conference Dinners: Looking for 2026-27 Chairs & Committee Volunteers
This chair position is a yearlong position that helps to coordinate conference dinners in the fall and spring. The tasks include finding local food sponsors to donate meals for the staff, or coordinating catering, or setting up Sign-Up Genius pages to collect food from families to feed staff members. This chair will also spearhead the set-up and clean-up before and after each dinner.
Field Day: Amber McCarthy
This role supports the gym teacher(s) with spring Field Day logistics. Tasks may include booking an inflatable or Kona Ice truck, organizing snack station volunteers, and purchasing snacks and ice. The gym teachers do the heavy lifting on planning, but this chair works closely with the board to make sure volunteer coverage and general needs are taken care of.
Grounds & Bulletin Board: Cyndee Van Der Heide (Bulletin Board) & Amber McCarthy (Grounds)
This role covers two things - keeping the front flowerpots looking great year-round and updating the bulletin board each season. Historically one role, it's being split this year. Both positions work fairly independently with a board-provided budget.
Head Room Parent Coordinator: Allison Campbell
This role acts as the liaison between the board and room parents for the school year. Parent involvement is a huge part of what makes Ada great, and room parents are a big piece of that! We never want room parents going out of pocket for expenses that would usually be covered by room-level donations, and we want every class to have as consistent an experience as possible. This position helps make both of those things happen. It's about guiding room parents on best practices like communications, donation collection, volunteer recruitment, party planning and being a resource for questions and issues throughout the year.
Monthly Treat Trolley: Mehgan Fegan
This chair position helps organize and support a monthly treat trolley for Ada Elementary Staff through a sign up and coordination with the school staff. The chair will work closely with the volunteer parents that signed up for each month to coordinate a good day for the school secretaries to have our families through the building handing out treats, arrange the proper cart or supplies needed and help answer any questions to make the day of a success for all staff members and families participating!
Original Works: Amy Gajor
This chair position is in charge of the yearly fundraiser with Original Works. The tasks include advertising the fundraiser, organizing sales and the distribution of children's art. This chair works closely with the Ada Elementary art teacher, Fundraising Coordinator officer and board Treasurer.
Scholastic Book Fair: Molly Dow
This role works directly with our Scholastic rep to organize and run the fall book fair. Scholastic provides training and assigns a rep to our school, but there's still a lot to coordinate like picking a date, scheduling delivery, setting up volunteers, and timing everything around conferences and class periods. It's a big undertaking and a great way to raise money for the school!
Spirit Wear: Looking for 2026-27 Chair & Committee Volunteers
The chair position works hard in the fall to coordinate the sale of Ranger gear. Tasks may include: working with the clothing fulfillment company, communication with Ada families, the ordering process and issues that may arise with the distribution of spirit wear.
Staff Appreciation Week: Hillary Vermilye & Lauren Tweedy
This chair position works in the spring to organizing and create a fun filled week for the staff at Ada Elementary. Tasks will include: recruiting and managing volunteers, designing décor, setting up food donations and more! We think our Ada teachers and staff are the best and opportunities like this to shower them with appreciation is one of the many ways the PTO can influence teacher retention and keep morale high!
Staff Holiday Cookie Exchange: Looking for 2026-27 Chairs & Committee Volunteers
This role helps organize our one-day holiday cookie exchange, usually the week before winter break. Tasks include coordinating volunteers, cookie donations, drinks, and décor. No baking required! The goal is simple — a fun event just for teachers and staff to enjoy together.
